Droplet Inc. ("we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and disclose personal information through the "Turtle Guardian" mobile application ("App").
1. Definition of Personal Information
"Personal Information" (or "Personally Identifiable Information" / "PII") refers to any information that identifies, relates to, describes, or could reasonably be linked, directly or indirectly, with a specific individual or household under applicable United States federal and state privacy laws (including, but not limited to, the California Consumer Privacy Act).

- Home Location Data: Location profiles identified or designated as the user's home/base for safety perimeter analysis.
- Emergency Contact Information: Nickname and email address of third parties designated by the User.
- Information Collected Automatically:
- GPS Location Data & Precise Geolocation: Real-time precise GPS location coordinates to monitor safety.
- Physical Activity Data: Movement status such as walking, vehicle movement, or stationary states.
- Device Information: OS version, device model name, and push notification tokens.
- Usage Logs: Application activity and system interaction logs.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use your information for the following purposes:
- To provide, maintain, and secure the Service (including core safety monitoring utilizing GPS and Home Location Data).
- To facilitate communication with your designated Emergency Contacts.
- To respond to your inquiries and provide customer support.
- To improve our App and develop new features.
- To prevent fraud and ensure compliance with our Terms of Service.
4. Handling of Third-Party Personal Information
- When a User registers a third party's personal information using the App's features, we treat it as if the User has obtained prior approval from the third party for registration.
- We will send a notification (via email) to the relevant Emergency Contact Designee to inform them of the registration request and to confirm whether they agree to be registered.
- The personal information of the Emergency Contact Designee will only be formally registered and used as an emergency contact within the App upon receiving their explicit consent.
- If consent is denied or if no response is received within a certain period, we will promptly delete the third party's information or treat it as an incomplete registration.
5. Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell your personal information. We may share information only in the following limited cases:
- With Your Consent: When you designate and authorize an Emergency Contact.
- Service Providers: With trusted third parties (e.g., AWS, Google Firebase) who process data on our behalf under strict confidentiality agreements.
- Legal Requirements: To protect life, safety, or to comply with legal obligations and government requests.
6. Data Storage and International Transfers
To provide low-latency service and respect data residency, we store and process your personal data in the following AWS regions based on your location:
- United States: Data is primarily stored on servers located in the United States.
While we prioritize regional data residency, Droplet Inc. operates a global infrastructure. As we are headquartered in Japan, your information may be securely accessed by our central systems in Japan solely for necessary maintenance and support purposes.
7. Your Rights and Choices
Depending on your location (e.g., California, Virginia, Canada, Singapore, Australia), you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Access and Portability: Request a copy or disclosure of your personal data and the categories of data we collect.
- Correction: Update or correct your personal information.
- Deletion: Request that we delete your account and personal data.
- Opt-out of Location Tracking: You may disable location tracking (GPS and Home Location collection) via your device settings at any time, though this will disable the core safety features of the App.
8. Children’s Privacy (COPPA Compliance)
The App is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 in compliance with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). If we become aware that we have inadvertently collected personal information from a child under 13 without verifiable parental consent, we will take steps to delete the data immediately from our servers.
9. State-Specific and Regional Disclosures (including CCPA/CPRA)
Notice to California Residents: Under the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the CPRA, you have specific rights regarding your personal information:
- Categories of Information Collected: In the preceding 12 months, we have collected identifiers (nickname, email), sensitive personal information (precise GPS location data, home location data), and internet/network activity.
- No Sale or Sharing: We do not "sell" your personal information, nor do we "share" it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
- Right to Limit Sensitive Data: You have the right to limit our use of precise geolocation data, which you can exercise at any time by disabling location services in your device settings.
- Singapore (PDPA): We comply with the PDPA and have appointed a Data Protection Officer (DPO). For inquiries, please contact us using the information provided below.
10. Data Retention
We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the services. We will permanently delete or anonymize your data upon account deletion, unless legal obligations require further retention.
